Hey there, campers! Buck “The Campfire King” McCoy here, and today I’m sharin’ my Campfire Skillet Recipe, seasoned with Founder’s Feast for that rustic, wood-fired sizzle. As a former park ranger from Bozeman, Montana, I’ve cooked over open flames more times than I can count, and this skillet dish is pure campfire gold. Let’s get cookin’!

Ingredients for Your Campfire Skillet Recipe

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Founder’s Feast seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cast iron skillet

How to Make Campfire Skillet

Here’s the gruff, practical plan for this Campfire Skillet Recipe:

  1. First, heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over the campfire until hot.
  2. Next, brown ground beef, then add onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Then, stir in pinto beans, diced tomatoes, Founder’s Feast seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. After that, cover and simmer over the coals for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until flavors meld.
  5. Finally, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, cover, and cook for 5 more minutes until cheese melts. Serve hot, directly from the skillet.
